During the COVID-19 pandemic, many of Dayton’s small businesses have been forced to close their doors. When the time is right, we want to make sure you’re ready to REOPEN Downtown Dayton.

SUPPORTING DOWNTOWN DAYTON'S SMALL CONSUMER-FOCUSED BUSINESSES

 

The REOPEN Downtown Dayton Grant Program, powered by private donors, offers grants to small consumer-focused businesses located in the downtown Dayton core. The grants will provide near-term bridge/gap assistance to such businesses that plan to return to operations following the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are managed by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Education and Public Improvement (EPI) Foundation.

REOPEN Downtown Dayton Grant Program FAQs

What information do I need to apply?

Be prepared to answer questions about how you plan to use the grant to manage your small business through the COVID-19 crisis. The goal of the REOPEN Downtown Dayton Grant Program is to help cover the gaps in your financial plan and help your business make it through.

You will also need:

  • Employee count as of March 15, 2020

  • Most recent W-9

  • Pre-COVID revenue numbers

What can the grant money be used for?

The funding is intended for operating expenses: rent, utilities, payroll, inventory, etc. The grant cannot be used to cover capital expenses or the costs for expansion or relocation.

Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants:

  • Must be locally owned.

  • Must be located in downtown Dayton.

  • Restaurants, bars, retailers, coffee shops, salons, barbers, and other personal services are the target recipients of this funding.

When is the application window?

REOPEN Downtown Dayton will accept applications beginning Thursday, May 14, 2020. The deadline to apply is May 22, 2020 at 5pm EDT.

Applications will be considered on their merit. This is NOT a first-come, first-served grant.

What is the award decision process?

Applications for each fund will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of area business leaders. The number of grants awarded and amounts will be determined based on the number of applicants.

How & when will I be notified of my award status?

Grant decisions will be made as quickly as possible. Applicants should expect to hear back within 2-3 weeks of the application deadline.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

REOPEN Downtown Dayton is intended to serve as gap funding for small, consumer-focused businesses located in downtown Dayton that have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant awards may be used for operating expenses including rent, utilities, payroll, inventory costs, etc. Grant monies may not be used to cover capital expenses or expenses related to expansion or relocation.

 

The estimated award range for this fund is $2,000 - $10,000. The target dates for grant award distribution is 2-3 weeks after the application window closes.
